Online Safety

Online Safety

Online safety is an integral part of safeguarding and requires a whole school, cross-curricular approach and collaboration between key school leads. At Red Kite Special Academy, we understand that computing and the use of digital devices is seen as an essential resource to support learning and teaching, as well as playing an important role in the everyday lives of children, young people and adults. Whilst exciting and beneficial to all in school, we need to be aware of the range of risks associated with the use of these technologies and want to ensure that all our pupils are safe when online and that clear expectations are in place for practices in school.

On this page you will find a number of guides and checklists that we highly recommend you read to be able to support your child/young person with their online safety/presence. We ask that you are always vigilant when your child/young person is using the internet. Although the internet can be a reward source for communication and forming online communities, the internet can also cause harm  and pose many dangers to our young people and to others.

Should you have any concerns regarding your young persons online safety help and advice can be accessed via the school - we ask that you speak to the pastoral team or the online safety lead, Bonnita Pawlusek.

If you or anyone you know is worried about Child Exploitation, Online Protection or anything related to Internet safety you can also report this on the CEOP reporting website that can be found at https://www.ceop.police.uk/ceop-reporting/. Alternatively, you can contact CEOP on 0800 11 11.
