Safeguarding is the action taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm, abuse and maltreatment. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility to ensure that our children/young people stay safe. Each person who works in school, or visits, shares this responsibility.
At Red Kite, we are dedicated to promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff, parents, visitors, and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to implementing consistent and effective safeguarding procedures to support families, children, and staff at our school.
Everyone who comes into contact with the children and families in our community plays an important role. Everything we do centres around the children. Their safety, well-being, achievement, and happiness are foundational to every decision we make.
At Red Kite, we ensure that all staff are highly trained in all aspects of safeguarding, with regular updates and refresher training throughout the year. We also incorporate age-appropriate opportunities within our curriculum to teach children how to keep themselves healthy and safe.
If you have any concerns in relation to child protection and safeguarding on the school site, please speak to one of our DSLs.

Every family faces challenges from time to time, and you do not have to manage them alone. At Red Kite School, we can offer a Family Help Conversation, which is a friendly and supportive way to talk about any worries you may have and explore what help might be available.
A Family Help Conversation focuses on what is working well for your child/young person and family, as well as any areas where you may need extra support. Together, we can agree practical steps, share strategies, and, if needed, connect you with other services that may be able to help. Any support offered is always discussed with you and provided with your consent.
We can support families with:
· Sleep and bedtime routines
· Behaviour and emotional regulation at home
· Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
· Sensory needs and sensory regulation strategies
· Communication and interaction skills
· Visual supports, schedules, and routines
· Building independence and daily living skills
· Accessing local services and community support
Our aim is to work alongside you, helping your child and family thrive both at home and in school. No concern is too small, and having a conversation early can often prevent worries from becoming bigger challenges.
If you would like to find out more about Family Help or discuss how we may be able to support your family, please contact:
