Update following Sunday PM announcement - 11th May 2020
11th May 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
I know that you, like most of the country, will have been listening in to the Prime Minister's speech last night. Any hope of light at the end of the tunnel is to be welcomed and last night after so many weeks of challenging times we were given an opportunity to begin to think about moving forwards. Having spent so many weeks under lockdown I know that we all would welcome the opportunity to begin to return to ‘normality’.
However the PM made it clear that, despite a gently easing of conditions, extreme caution must still be exercised, guarding against a second wave. The PM spoke in careful and measured terms about the proposed gradual reopening of school, targeting Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I am pleased in one respect that we are speaking in these terms, but I have concerns about the ambitious scale of the plan insofar as it applies to our children at Red Kite.
We will be setting about planning the proposed reopening but will also continue to seek further advice and guidance that will help us ensure the safety of your children and of our school staff; aiming to continue to protect our school community.
As we move through this process I will keep you up-to-date and as always I welcome your views and suggestions.
Please stay safe, stay well and stay home if you can.
All the best
