THINKING AHEAD - CORONA VIRUS
Please find below letter that has gone home with your child along with a home learning pack. This is just us simply thinking ahead incase the school should have to close at any time. For now though, we remain open unless your child is self-isolating for the recommended 14 days.
We appreciate your support at this really trying time.
In the event that we need to close our School we have put together a pack of resources for your child to complete at home. These are extremely troubling times and I know that you will join me in thanking the amazing school staff who have worked tirelessly to keep the school as calm as we possibly can. If your child does not come home with a learning at home pack because they have been absent due to ill health or self-isolation, then the school will deliver your pack over the next few days as appropriate.
The learning at home resources are for you and your child for the forthcoming time should they be unable to attend school.
We realise that not everything in the pack may be relevant for your child but we have attempted to support all needs to the best that we can. Our GCSE students will receive ongoing email learning coordinated by Agnes Anderson.
Attached you will find a list of websites that you may wish to access to support learning at home, as well as Food banks that may be able to help if you need support with food and consumables.
Our school website is also being updated constantly with further learn at home activities; these can be found on the ‘Learning’ section with specific activities and ideas under the ‘Learning at Home’ and the ‘Curriculum’ tabs.
During these uncertain times we continue to have you and your family’s best interests at the heart of all that we do. Every Monday that we are closed you will receive a welfare/check in phone call from your child’s class teacher; just to have a catch up and see how you and your child are.
If you need further support while self-isolating due to Covid-19 we will, try our hardest to support you for example to pick up shopping, medication or urgent supplies. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Whilst we are well we will do our utmost to be able to offer this service and support
If your child is unwell please contact NHS 111 to seek advice. I would like to remind you about simple measures you can take at home to prevent infections from spreading:
- Catch your cough or sneeze in the crook of your elbow or use a tissue. Then bin the tissue, wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap, or use a sanitiser gel.
- Wash hands often with soap and water regularly.
- Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
General information about COVID-19 is available on the PHE website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public.
As a school we will update you with further information on this as soon as it is possible; this will be via a short text and then a full update will be posted on our website.
Should you need to contact me directly during a period of school closure then my email address is email@example.com
In these troubled and worrying times we send you all our love, support and best wishes with the aim of us all staying fit, well and healthy.
Thank you all for your ongoing support; the messages that we have received from many of you have been so very well received.
Take care all
