13th April 2021
Dear Parents/Carers and Families,
I hope that you have all had a good break! It has been lovely to see all of the children and young people back at school today and especially nice as the sun has been shining and they have all been having fun outside with their friends!
As the country and local areas start to ‘open up’ more, let’s hope that safer and more normal times are ahead of us all. We continue to be ever vigilant at Red Kite and our safe practices and Risk Assessments are still in place to keep everyone as safe and well as we possibly can.
To help with this we are encouraging those of you with secondary aged students to use the Covid testing kits at home twice weekly. We have sent home more testing kits (as of today) to ensure that you have enough to get to the May Half Term. Our staff and visitors continue to test twice weekly and core staff who work across school and SLG test daily. As always I take a proactive approach to keeping everyone safe and I will keep you informed immediately of any concerns or changes that occur.
This is really going up fast, with the building company way ahead of schedule; the end is in sight! Having been inside on a daily basis I can tell you that it looks amazing and will be such a great place for our older students to learn! I am meeting with the older students this week to discuss their hopes and wishes for when they move over to the new building.
At Red Kite, in line with government guidelines, we wish to offer all our classes here healthy snacks such as fruit and vegetables and healthy cereals, rather than crisps and biscuits. Our classes also focus upon skills such as spreading and cutting and we offer crackers and various spreads.
We hope that all our pupils will benefit from healthier options at snack times and we are now ONLY providing the options as above. If your child needs something
more specific then we are asking for you to provide this for them in our move towards gaining Healthy School status. Please discuss any issues with your child’s class teacher.
We appreciate the many contributions towards snacks and cookery that we have had during this disrupted year. If you have not yet made a payment and are in a position to do so then please make a contribution online at www.eduspot.co.uk so that we are able to continue to provide high quality snacks, life skills and cookery resources.
Your unique username and password for this payment service can be obtained from the Reception. We thank you for your co-operation.
Here’s to a fun and happy term for us all.
Stay safe and well.
NB. In accordance with the Governors’ Charging and Remission Policy, please note the following:
- There is no obligation to contribute to snack
- Pupils will not be treated differently according to whether their parents have made any contribution
