We've had a busy Autumn Term! We are all enjoying the forest school and our Literacy lesson afterwards is usually linked to what we've been doing in the Forest School!
Our topics for Term 1 were Community Project and Old Fossil, we had fun designing our own buildings and doing a sensory story around Corby! Of course everyone loved the dinosaur topic where we made our old dinosaur swamp and made our own fossils too!
For Term 2 our topics were Mysterious Maya and Survival of the Fittest. We made our own Maya headdresses, and created a special Maya milkshake and a Maya wrap with avocados... surprisingly everyone ate and enjoyed them !! In our Survival of the Fittest topic, we created our own creatures using modelling clay... some had lots of eyes and all were completely different to each other! We explored how penguins have a waterproof coating on their feathers to help keep them warm and dry by doing our own science experiment with crayons and water. Some children used a switch activated hairdryer to melt their crayon before spraying it! Then we looked at how different birds have different beaks depending on what they ate... we used different spoons for different types of 'bird food' to see which was best!
